Teacher review

Thank you for the opportunity to work with Words Rock! - particularly with EdAlive staff members taking the time to come out and work with the students and assist with the introduction of the program.

I was very impressed with the whole program - in particular I found the content was very well designed and at the age appropriate level. Being able to adjust the level to cater for the individual differences of students was an excellent option.

The areas of the curriculum that were covered showed that a lot of thought had been given to the curriculum requirements in this subject area and all these were relevant. This is possibly the greatest feature of this software.

The children were very enthusiastic with the different activities and were eager to complete the questions related to the different aspects of spelling and grammar. The added bonus of the 'battleship' game to find the slug ensured that the students are engaged in a meaningful task and reviewing their spelling and grammar knowledge whilst at the same time playing a fun game. The incorporation of the two aspects is what makes this particular game so appealing to children.

The game is simple to load and easy for students to use. It requires minimum teacher supervision for the tasks to be completed. Having the administrator component, where the analysis of errors can be assessed can provide realistic teaching situations for the classroom - but with the busy nature of the teaching day I am not sure that I would personally make full use of this component.

I believe that I would be more inclined to use this software for extension activities for those students who have mastered the basics of the spelling program and would benefit greatly from the enrichment activities that are provided. As an extension tool for the more capable students I would find that this program is invaluable and will be certainly implementing this in my classroom in this fashion.

Congratulations on this software - this is a wonderful addition to the already highly successful 'maths invaders' software - software of this nature is an invaluable resource to any classroom.
